FAQ

What are your rates?

I often get asked how much my services cost. In a consumers market you have several options to choose from other than a CPA. This includes tax software, online tax preparation web sites, and retail tax preparation shops. I can assure you my professional services are worth the price and are even sometimes less than these other service by the fee charged and the resulting refund in some cases. My fee is not contingent on your refund.

Two minds and sets of eyes are better than one. I've made amendments to self-prepared returns and found corrections that resulted in well over $1,000 in additional tax refunds that the client had missed. Also keep in mind that the service doesn't end with the preparation of your return. My service includes any research needed to address concerns on your return or to answer your questions any time during the year.

Ultimately my fee is based on the complexity of your return as it impacts the time it takes for me to complete it. There is no set formula. My determination is based on my experience professionally preparing returns since the 1998 tax year, and my knowledge of market rates for fees charged by other preparers.

The deciding factor should be what service you get for your money. Don't under estimate the value of a good CPA. If you're still not satisfied call or email me with your concerns.

What is your base of knowledge?

I've been preparing tax returns professionally since the 1998 tax year. I worked for over five years in a public accounting firm under the direction of four different CPAs and two professional preparers with several years of experience. In my tenure in public accounting I prepared various tax returns from the wealthy down to tax returns for children. I've also completed federal tax returns for C corps, S corps, LLC's, partnerships, Controlled Foreign Corporations, Estates and Trusts, Gift tax returns, and Non-profit entities. In addition I've completed individual returns for multiple states, payroll returns, property tax, and various other reports.

I use professional tax preparation software and reference books marketed to CPA and professional tax preparers. I complete individual and business tax continuing professional education each year to stay on top of issues.

What security measures are used to protect my privacy?

As a licensed CPA I am bound to protect your privacy. I will not discuss your tax or financial situation with anyone without your consent. I employ a fairly powerful shredder for printed documents that are no longer necessary or printed in error. Copies of your records are held behind lock and key, and electronic copies are held under a password. I backup all my tax files periodically and store a copy in a safety deposit box offsite. Any other concerns please review my privacy policy at the bottom of each page.

What services are offered from your web site?

On my main page I have links to the IRS "Where's My Refund" page that you can visit to check on the status of your refund after your return has been filed. I also have a way for you to pay your bill online through a secure service. This will allow you to pay by eCheck, Paypal, or any major credit card. Additionally, I have posted some "Client Updates" that you can read, print, and are free to distribute on current tax issue and personal financial concerns. New updates and services will be offered from the website regularly so please come back as often as you desire.
